at home – dvd, lovefilm
will smith is a bit of a crap superhero who doesn’t care and breaks things
haha! i didn’t really fancy seeing this. i just couldn’t believe squeeky-clean will smith as a bloke who didn’t care and was all irresponsible. but charlotte suggested we put it in, so i did.
then, when it came, charlotte kept on putting off watching it and eventually admitted that she didn’t really want to watch it and just suggested we put it in ’cause she thought i’d like it!
i offered to send it back but eventually we decided to watch it.
okay, so, the movie. well in the end the squeeky-cleanliness of old will bothered charlotte more than me. she simply couldn’t believe him. i think i’d kind of gotten used to the idea eventually. also, even though will’s acting wasn’t method-acting-deep, his pretend-roughness was pretty good. you could see he was having fun with it, at any rate.
the writing was for the most part also pretty good. in fact all of it was pretty well done and moved along super-smoothly and kept me entertained.
rhythmically it was a bit weird, because at one stage you’re watching this coming-of-age superhero film and the next thing you know its become some weird charlize theron superhero love story. the love story part was good, though. but yeah, it rather came out of nowhere. it was almost like two subtly different films sandwiched together. or, as if they filmed two subtly different versions of the same film, to see which one they preferred, and then put the wrong second half onto the wrong first half.
but, yeah, once i got into the second half then it was cool.
all in all this was quite fun.
cast:
will smith
charlize therren
some bloke who was pretty good actually
Managed the first 10 minutes than turned if off.
Nothing to recommend it in my view.
